Dr. M. Nasser
Dr. Nasser was born and raised in Tanzania, East Africa to parents and grandparents of Indian descent. He is the youngest of four brothers and sisters. He had his early education in East Africa and then went to college and medical school in Pakistan. Dr. Nasser moved to Houston, Texas in 1976 to pursue an education in Optometry. He graduated with a Doctor of Optometry in 1982. He also has been certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and a Therapeutic Optometrist, and serves as an administrator of Vision Source for 25 Houston area private practices.
In 1982, Dr. Nasser settled in Houston. He established a small optometric practice next to Royal Optical in the West University area near the Texas Medical Center. He then went on to practice in the Willowbrook area in April of 1984. He established Family Eye Center in July of 1988. Since then, he has opened two more practices, one in the Deerbrook area and one in the Greenway/Galleria area.
Dr. Nasser is married to Anar and they have two daughters, Faria and Sarah. Because of his diverse background, he speaks five languages other than English: Swahili (African dialect), Urdu (Pakistan dialect), Hindi (Indian dialect), Kachi and Gujrati (Indian dialects).
Dr. Nasser is also very active in volunteer work within the community. He was previously the chairman of the Ismaili Religious Education Board, as well as chairman of the Ismaili Secular Education Board for Southwest USA. He currently is the convener for the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He is also actively involved with Optometry Giving Sight, a worldwide initiative. In this capacity, he spends a lot of time out of the office.
Dr. Nasser is a member of the Texas Optometric Association, Texas Association for Optometrists, American Optometric Association and Canadian Association.

Poly De La Garza, O.D.
Dr. Poly De La Garza is a native Houstonian, who graduated from Klein Oak High School. She then earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Texas A&M University and her doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. De La Garza has undergone externships at the Eye Center of Texas, where she co-managed LASIK procedures, cataract surgery, and retinal disease, and at Conroe/Woodlands Eye Clinic where she specialized in retinal disease, pediatrics and binocular vision.
Dr. De La Garza enjoys seeing children of all ages and has a background in developmental vision and vision therapy.
She is a member of the Texas Optometry Association and the American Optometry Association. Dr. De La Garza is licensed as a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. |
